About the event
Sir Ivor is a world renowned Political Scientist and expert on British Politics, with a speciality on elections, parties, and public opinion. In his past roles as President of Universities UK and Vice Chancellor of the University of Essex, he became heavily involved in the politics of higher education and understanding the possible impacts of Brexit on education funding and research.
Ambassador Shannon served as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, the third ranking and highest career position at the State Department. Over a 35 year career, Ambassador Shannon held a number of important diplomatic posts including Counsellor of the Department, Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, and Ambassador to Brazil. Ambassador Shannon was Acting Secretary of State from January 20 to February 1, 2017.
