About the event
The Oxford Alumni Society of Washington, D.C. is pleased to announce the first in a series of lectures by English Heritage. The organization is charged with preserving Stonehenge, Hadrian's Wall, and more than 400 other historic buildings, monuments, and sites of note. Roy Porter, DPhil, English Heritage's Senior Properties Curator, will be presenting a lecture entitled, "Dover Castle, Magna Carta, and the Invasion of England, 1216-1217." Through this discussion, Dr. Porter will show how if events around Dover Castle had turned out differently, the Magna Carta might have been forgotten!
